Diane is a young woman with Down’s syndrome. In group work sessions she was often quiet and needed prompting and encouragement to join in with group discussions.
She took part in a creative project around the theme of Goddesses, which aimed to teach the members that women can be powerful and strong, and have been worshipped in many cultures as goddesses.
During the course of art and drama sessions, Diane took onboard these concepts and became confident enough to describe herself with powerful words and explain these in front of the group. She enjoyed these sessions and since has appeared to be more comfortable in front of the group.
