There are now three mixed groups that go out together in the evening.

These groups are made up of people who live near each other. There are groups covering the whole borough, split into North, South and East.

Below, Peter Mahoney, tells us about the group he is in.

We go out once a week.

We go bowling.

We go to the pictures sometimes.

We talk about things we’ve done and what we’re going to do.

We get tables and chairs and sit down together. We talk about the things we did one at a time.

This has been a very busy few months for Newham Leisure Link.

August of this year saw the sad departure of the project co-ordinator - Lindsey. We will all miss her very much.

The growth of the Evening Leisure Groups has meant several new staff have been employed to cope with the increase in demand for our services.

Future plans for our evening group excursions include a guided tour of a police station,

a pantomime at Christmas

as well as regular visits to the cinema

and bowling.
