The Powerhouse is a much needed service for a discriminated group.

Mencap states that the ‘1.5. millionpeople living in the UK with a learning disability, are [still ]among the most excluded and disadvantaged people in today’s society’. In reality people with learning disabilities are still marginalised at the most basic levels, and their choices and opportunities and freedom of expression are still limited.                                                  

                  
The Powerhouse recognises that women with learning disabilities are subjected to further discrimination, including those from BME groups, older women and lesbians.

Our work is aimed at fighting this discrimination, as well as giving our members with more choice and control over their lives.
